Lennon Update #1 (from 9/5/11)

Good evening everyone!  I hope this email reaches all of you well.  By now you all know that we are expecting our first child, if you did not know, then guess what?!  Chelsey is pregnant! :)  Chelsey and I are so excited to become parents.  From the moment that we found out, my life became consumed with reading about and preparing for our baby.  I am sure I have annoyed most of you with bits of pregnancy and baby information, thank you for tolerating me.  I must also apologize for the length of this email, I will try to be more succinct in future messages.

The reason I am sending this email is to include you in this process and to give you updates along the way.  I understand everyone is busy and these updates may not interest you (but seriously who wouldn't be interested?!).  If you don't want to receive these emails let me know and I can take your name off the distribution list.  Also if you can think of anybody that I have missed that would be interested, please let me know their email and I will add them to future messages.

Now for the fun stuff!  Chelsey and I went to her first doctor's appointment this evening.  We thought Chelsey was about 9 weeks along and we were pretty close.  She is about 8 weeks and 4 days based on the measurements, and this puts the due date at April 15, 2012.   The ultrasound picture of our growing baby is attached.  We were both ecstatic to see the ultrasound and the little flicker of a heartbeat because it didn't feel quite real until now.  I am very excited because next time we will be able to hear the heartbeat.

We have been very blessed because to this point Chelsey has been feeling well.  She has had no sicknesses, just food aversions and some different cravings (so far, Macaroni & Cheese... delicious).  As all of you know Chelsey well, she is always very energetic and active; even on her sick days when she should have been home resting and recuperating she would be cleaning and organizing our home.  I think the lack of energy and sleepiness has been the biggest and most difficult adjustment for Chelsey.  Although, this has not stopped us from painting and furnishing our basement and painting the trim, walls, and giving tree in the baby room (can you tell we are excited?).

The baby bump is growing, you can start to see Chelsey's belly poking out and she is graciously allowing me to take pictures each week.  As long as I am still getting approval, I will include some belly pictures in the future months when we have some more to compare.  Those of you that have met our dog, Kaya, understand that we are constantly having to protect Chelsey's belly.  I think Kaya is able to sense some changes, she is always following Chelsey around and wanting to be close.  Wrigley is still his low-key self.  Other than these changes, it is really life as usual.  We were very excited to celebrate Grandma & Grandpa Christoffers' 50th Wedding Anniversary.  We will attempt to make it to a few Hawkeye Football tailgates (weather and pregnancy permitting) and are excited to go Minneapolis this weekend to see Kate and Reid.
Again, hope you are doing well and let me know if I missed anybody on this email.

Love,
Patrick, Chelsey, & Baby Wood

P.S. I hope this update was up to Great Grandma Christoffers' editorial expectations.
