Lennon has blue eyes! For months Lennon’s eyes have been shut, but they should be fully developed and he is starting to open and close his eyes. One kind of interesting fact is that regardless of ethnicity, all babies’ eyes start out blue. Most babies’ irises don’t display their final color until a few months after birth. (I should work for Snapple) This is the 27th week of the pregnancy. Chelsey’s best moment this past week was seeing L-man move a bunch from the outside. We will be sitting watching TV and Chels can see him bump from the corner of her eye. It is pretty cool to know he is doing well in there. Lennon is moving all of the time now. When Chels is on her side at night, he will stretch out sideways and Chels says it is a very strange feeling. Sleep has improved significantly since Chels borrowed a maternity sleeping pillow from Tawnia. (Thanks Tawnia!) Chels had a few terrible dreams this past week that were really unpleasant but last night was much better.
This week Chelsey had a little more weight gain, up to 16.5 pounds overall. Chelsey was very animated this morning because she couldn’t remember what she was at last week she just knew the overall weight gain. When Chels thought that she gained another two pounds she was concerned this might happen every week and said “this better not happen every week or I will be a Mac Truck by April!!!” This week there were no real cravings or aversions besides meat not sounding appetizing. A couple funny things, Chelsey’s belly button is looking goofy, almost like a baby’s belly button when they have a little Buddha belly. Also, we learned in our labor and delivery class (which is a conspiracy for mom’s to get massages from their spouses) that most first time babies are born in the 41st week of the pregnancy. For those of you counting at home, that is 10 months of pregnancy and Chelsey says more than likely she will be wrong but she has a strange inkling that Lennon will be born April 21st.
Chelsey is still having some occasional abdominal cramping and low back pain. The chiropractic adjustment was great this week, but the heating pad we made or a warm bath are helping the most. One other thing causing stress, Chels had two people in the last week tell her of friends that were told they were having a boy but it turned out to be a girl. This upset Chelsey mucho, do not tell Chelsey this! We are both planners and Chels doesn’t need that fear put in her head. On a positive note, we are both looking forward to my aunt Nini coming to visit this weekend. Chels is also looking forward to continuing with her routine. Chels is very thankful that her body is cooperating and allowing her to continue working out regularly. Chels is still kickboxing twice a week, strength training twice a week, and walking on off days. The workouts have kept her comfortable… only 13 weeks or so to keep it up.
Hope this reaches all of you well and thank you for keeping Chelsey and Lennon in your thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Patrick, Chelsey, & Lennon
