Lennon Update #21 (from 1/26/12)

Chelsey is counting little Lennon’s kicks, punches, and flips.  There is an initiative for pregnant women 28 weeks along encouraging them to count their baby’s kicks and if they are moving less than 10 times in 2 hours you are supposed to go to the hospital immediately.  Luckily for Chelsey, Lennon is moving probably 10 times in only a few minutes so she doesn't have to spend much time counting.   Chelsey also really enjoys being able to distinguish the curve of his head, elbow, or knee.  This is the 29th week of the pregnancy.  We completed our labor and delivery class this week and the final class we discussed some baby soothing techniques.  It was interesting because you don’t realize how much he is being jostled around right now.  I told Chelsey that because she is doing all her kickboxing and working out we are going to have to swing and bounce Lennon like crazy to soothe him.

This week Chelsey’s weight didn’t fluctuate, still up 18 pounds overall.  We really need to look what the prior week’s weight was before Chelsey steps on the scale.  This morning Chelsey and I both thought she gained another 1.5lbs and I could tell she was kind of down.  Then when we got to work I got a very excited email that her weight actually didn’t move.   Chels is wearing maternity clothes all the time.  Her belly is sitting so low that she is unable to use the belly band with pre-pregnancy pants.  The belly is getting in the way more and more, Chels is missing her ability to  stretch out, her belly is prohibiting her from leaning forward all the way to stretch out her lower back.  Chels is also experiencing sciatic nerve pain.  It is really bad in the morning, but as long as Chels uses the heating pad on it right away it will loosen up.  It always ends up hurting by the end of the day again.  Chels discovered her mom had the same issue during both of her pregnancies, but is glad that this is the worst problem that she has had during the pregnancy.

As I mentioned, we completed the labor and delivery class this week and Chels likes to say we passed with flying colors!  We weren’t really graded, but we were rockstars as we were the only couple to show up to every class.  Finishing the nursery was our best moment of the week.  I have included a few pictures of the nursery, Chels is in love with the room and says that she could sit in it forever.    We also attempted some maternity pictures and I have included one of them.  I was nervous that they wouldn’t turn out well, I was happy with most of them and loved taking the pictures and do the editing.  I included one of the pictures, and hope you are able to open all these and they don’t get blocked.  Chelsey and I are both looking forward to her doctor’s appointment tonight and our hospital tour next week.  Chelsey thinks it will help put her mind at ease to see where we will be when the miraculous day arrives.

Hope this reaches all of you well and thank you for keeping Chelsey and Lennon in your thoughts and prayers!

Love,
Patrick, Chelsey, & Lennon
