or her tiny fingertips. (no more committing crimes without being
caught) This is the 13th week of the pregnancy, as you can see in the
attached photo Chelsey’s baby bump is continuing to grow. There has
been a lot of growth these past couple weeks. As a result of the
recent growth, Chelsey has been getting cramps in her abdominal
muscles. As Chelsey continues to progress, she is really focusing on
her belly each day to see if she can feel anything. There hasn’t been
any movement yet but Chelsey is really looking forward to it.
We were really looking forward to Chelsey's doctor appointment today.
We were able to hear his or her little heartbeat! I had my phone out
during the visit and recorded the heartbeat. I trimmed the audio clip
down so you don't have to listen to the whole visit. At the very
beginning of the clip is where we were able to hear the heartbeat the
best. The baby was very lively and moved around but you can hear it
again towards the end of the clip. Everything sounded great! More
exciting news, we get the find out the gender and make sure everything
is progressing as it should just before Thanksgiving, we will keep you
posted.
This is the first week that Chelsey experienced a little weight gain.
Up to last week Chelsey had maintained a steady 128.5 pounds
throughout the pregnancy but this week she gained two pounds, up to
130.5. The only time I think I will ever hear her say “yay for weight
gain!” I don’t think the weight gain is related but this week Chelsey
has been craving sweets. There were no real food aversions and
Chelsey was very excited about this. The best moment this past week
was being able to say we are through the more nerve racking portion of
the pregnancy. The second trimester is on the horizon!
As Chelsey’s bump continues to grow she wears her maternity jeans and
leggings more frequently. She added a pair of maternity pants for
work this week. Chelsey was a little surprised to need the maternity
clothes this soon, she noted “the belly is getting bigger more quickly
than I thought.” Still no stretch marks to date, Chelsey has been
diligently using body butter to prevent any stretch marks. Most of
the time she is happy, sometimes emotional… but that is to be
expected, I mean she is growing another life right now!
The thing Chelsey missed most this past week was sleeping on her
stomach and working really hard in her kickboxing classes. She has
been getting kind of frustrated lately as every time she stands up she
gets dizzy. Chelsey has been sleeping well, however she has been
having more crazy dreams. I had a dream this past week that we had a
little baby girl. It was a very nice dream but I woke up frantically
because I didn't know her name! Chelsey doesn't have any gender
predictions, but if you are keeping count at home that is two dreams
about girls and none about boys. Chelsey and I were curious if any of
you had any predictions yet. Obviously healthy, but let us know if
you are leaning one way or the other and I will send out an official
tally next update.
